Thought to be built around c1850, I would estimate a little later, c1880. It is a 4 bent, English bank barn, located at 242 old Long Ridge Road, Stamford, CT. Field stone, 6 foot foundation on the East side, ground on the North side, post and beam with lolly columns on the remaining 2 side. 1890-1900 carriage house addition attached to North end. East end sill is abutted to the asphalt driveway, which sealed the sill and caused deterioration because of water/moisture buildup. The result is that the east wall has partially separated from the barn, leaving a small gap in the particular gambrel joint in the gambrel roof. The beam that connects to the plate has broken at the girt level, although it is still attached. The sheathing is vertical board and is in poor condition. About half of the floor is original, the rest a hodge-podge of repair work. The queen truss braces are deteriorated throughout, some worse than others. The truss on the south bent is mostly missing. Some of the purlins and most of the interior repairs are mickey-mouse.
