Field Notes

25 Powers Court is the Westport Country Playhouse. Massive renovation 2003-2004 but original fabric still evident in the theater area. They have an archival corner in the lobby from which we tried to get copies of all framed images of the original structure. They display some structural framing elements from the renovation, also. Built in 1835 and surrounded by fields. Later used as a tannery, known as Kemper Morocco Manufacturing Co.. In the theater on the first floor, 2 side walls and front of stage base have some of the original walls of the barn. Some post and beam framing is exposed. The structure is on the local HRI as #0733.
