Field Notes

A few years ago, an old post and beam house was demolished and a new house built at this address across the street from the barn. - C. Hitchcock The house is said to have been built in 1790 and remained with the same family until 1970s (according to the 1972 Bethany's Old Houses and Community Buildings Book). The scanned photo is taken from the same book and shows a c. 1900 picture taken by George Levi Wooding of the homestead. - M. Antonelli
