Field Notes

House was built in 1763 and the barn may also be from that time. The barn is depicted in an 1874 photo. This barn was quite difficult to see due to its location at the top of a hill and partially hidden by the house. It is comprised of red, vertical wooden siding with asphalt shingles on the gable style roof. The main entrance to the barn was not visible. This barn is partially hidden by the house and trees. It appears to be in use as storage. There is a low stone wall on the property that surrounds the house and the barn. It is comprised as red, vertical siding with asphalt shingles on the gable style roof. The main entrance is on the straight side of the roof, so it can be classified as an English style barn. Located in the Mansfield Center Local and National Register Historic Districts.
